AYA (As You Are) is a non-profit organization in Grand Rapids serving youth who are experiencing housing instability. On any given night, over 200 youth are sleeping outside or in emergency shelters. AYA offers a drop-in resource center for youth ages 14-24. Youth have access to a warm meal, shower, laundry, medical and mental health support, education and employment resources just to name a few. AYA staff regularly collaborate with youth to discuss programming and needs. The biggest identified need right now is dependable forms of communication. When AYA is not open, it is hard to navigate the health system, continued education and employment opportunities. Our goal of $3,000 will allow AYA to purchase 50 phones and minute cards to ensure youth are able to reach their stabilization goals.
